Figure out the destination first, then devise the travel plan.

In our experience, a majority of “planning” advisors will ask you about your investments and resources, then tell you what you can do with it or how much you can spend.  We think that approach is fundamentally backwards.  We prefer to ask:

What is important to you and your family?  What are your concerns that those goals might not be met?

Once we know what’s important to you, then we can develop a customized roadmap to help you pursue your goals.
